01 Nov An Ancient City Has Been Found In The Pacific Ocean, Astounding Archaeologists

A QuickBird satellite has been used to monitor the Pacific ocean and the resulting photos have both confused and astounded archaeologists.

The satellite flies many thousands of feet above the ocean and has captured images of huge square blocks in a very remote area known as Micronesia which contains hundreds of tiny island groups.

One such island group is called Pohnopei and archaeologists have noticed something extremely spectacular about the Micronesian region.

It appears to contain leftover ruins from an Ancient City in the Pacific ocean. The city is situated on top of a lagoon and contains a number of canals and colossal stone walls.

Pohnopei contains the archaeological site of Nan Madol. Not much is known about Nan Madol, however, the remains of the ancient city can be found there.

Nan Madol translates as “the space in between”. The so-called “space in between” is a reference to the many canals that divide these tiny islands.

The island of Pohnopei contains hundreds of islands which are uncannily similar in their shape and structure. But how did they end up this way?

Upon close inspection of the satellite images, archaeologists have remained at a loss as to how and why Pohnopei has such a peculiar look about it.

As shown by the satellite images taken from the QuickBird satellite, Pohnopei is extremely remote from pretty much any other nation on Earth. For instance, it is 25,000 miles away from Los Angeles and 1600 miles from Australia.

However, what we do know is that it used to be inhabited by an Ancient race, who, over thousands of years, helped to build the region into a city and give it the structure it has now.
