Amazing Dad Builds His Disabled Daughter Her Very Own Theme Park

As we find ourselves once again in the sun-soaked midst of summer, clutching bottled beer and flinging frisbees around the park, another, slightly more high octane pastime becomes de rigeur once again.

For the thrill seekers among us, merely relaxing in the sun is simply not going to cut it. After all, precisely how much G-force does reclining on a sun-lounger accrue? I’m no expert, but I’d hesitantly suggest that the number would be negligible. So, after a bike ride also proves far too pedestrian for the adrenaline junkie in your life, it’s off to the theme park.

One father, though, noticed a problem with theme parks for his daughter, who has a form of autism. He recalls that, upon a visit to a theme park on a family holiday, his daughter Morgan tried to make friends with some other children who were playing in the water, but they quickly dispersed. Gordon Hartman, Morgan’s father, believes that the children were unsure how to behave around his daughter, who has the “cognitive understanding of a five-year-old”, reports the BBC. As he describes:

“Morgan is just a wonderful young lady. When you meet her you will always get a smile and she will always want to offer a hug. But there were so many times we couldn’t take her places”.

After consulting other parents in a similar position, Hartman realised that there was no such “inclusive” place for his daughter and others. That’s when he decided to build “world’s first ultra-accessible theme park”, for those with and without special needs.
