Amanda Bynes Is Back and She’s Just What the World Needs Right Now

At one stage of my youth, Amanda Bynes was practically my idol. My pre-teen self thirsted to be as side-splitting as she was in her multiple roles on The Amanda Show, yearned for Colin Firth to play my long lost father who also happened to be a Lord living in a London mansion, and I certainly wouldn’t have minded Channing Tatum falling in love with me as I pretended to be my twin brother in an elite boarding school.

But, as anyone who’s ever read celebrity news will know, in Tinseltown, what goes up must come down. It was about five years ago when Amanda fell victim to the paradigm that befalls many child stars who become too famous, too young. The press ripped her to shreds when she was arrested multiple times, underwent all-too public battles with drug abuse and was hospitalized under a psychiatric hold. Not to mention when she composed some simply bizarre Tweets, perhaps the most famous of which where she asked singer Drake to “murder her vagina”.

But five years after her now-infamous breakdown, the 31-year-old star is back and better than ever. In an interview with Hollyscoop’s Diana Madison, which was previewed on Good Morning America on Friday, Amanda reflected on her troubled years as she put the past behind her, revealing her aspirations to return to our screens and explaining all about that tweet.
