It’s no secret that labor is one of the worst pains in the world. My mom described it as “the pains of Hell” and while I’ve never had a kid, I accidentally experienced contractions a few years ago when my contraceptive insertion went wrong. She was right. I was in agony.

If I was to describe what I experienced, it felt like my entire lower body was convulsing. The nurses only told me afterward that I had experienced labor contractions and refused to let me leave the clinic for half an hour in case I fainted. I spent the rest of the day in a cold sweat.

I’d like to think that I’ve got a pretty high pain tolerance level, so I never screamed during the incident, but the same can’t be said for The Try Guys. For the internet’s viewing pleasure, they were all hooked up to a labor simulation machine to experience it for themselves.

This involved having small electrodes attached to the front and back of their stomachs (one guy even had an electrode stuck to his ‘vagina’) to stimulate the contractions that labor causes through electric shocks. Needless to say, the resulting footage is hilarious.

So if you’re a man, you might want to be a little more sympathetic to the women in your life after watching that video. Aside from having to deal with menstruation every month, if we chose to, we have to push a human out of our nether regions and it’s as painful as it sounds.

However, it’s worth noting that even though labor results in intolerable pain, unlike other types of pain, women’s bodies were built to handle it. Not all labors are the same either, and for a select few – usually, women who’ve already given birth – it’s not quite so bad.

That being said, I think we can all agree with The Try Guys’ conclusion that women are the tougher sex!
