While wars come – and hopefully go – those who are impacted by the devastating effects of violence are left to live with the consequences of decisions made by the powerful.

It is a sad fact that ordinary people, inevitably, are most affected by the outbreak of war; whether soldiers or innocent civilians caught in the crossfire, there are never any true winners as the result of conflict. Of course, wars can be justified, but whether or not it is ever “right” to go to war is a debate far too complex and delicate to reach a conclusive answer to.
