28 Feb Ellen Gets Emotional Praising “Amazing” Survivors Of The Parkland School Shooting

Mass shootings have become an all too common occurrence in the United States. With countless calls within and outside the country for a radical change of gun control policy, people are now arguing that those who we should be listening to most are the survivors of shootings.

After the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Valentine’s Day, which claimed the lives of 17 students and staff members, its survivors have been using the publicity it received to call for harsher gun controls so that a similar atrocity does not happen again.

This particular shooting was so devastating because the man behind it, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz, had already been reported to the FBI for proclaiming that he wanted to be a “professional school shooter”, but nothing was done about it, and he was free to murder anyway.

Three of the shooting’s most vocal survivors, Cameron Kasky, Emma González, and Jaclyn Cori, were recently invited on The Ellen Show to discuss the incident and gun reform, and what they had to say was so powerful that the show’s beloved host became emotional herself.

The pupils used their time on air to promote a March on Washington to call for harsher gun controls. In the wake of the shooting, they were told to grieve and that the discussion would take place at a later date. Now they have set that date as being March the 24th.

Dubbing it “March For Our Lives”, the students encouraged people to set up their own marches if they could not come to D.C. themselves and to support the movement by wearing branded merchandise elsewhere.

This call was echoed by Ellen herself who donated $50,000 to the march in partnership with Shutterfly.
