Fourth Man Has Died Looking For The $2 Million Of Treasure Hidden Somewhere In The Rockies

There are few things more compelling than a treasure hunt. They have been the subject of countless books and movies over the years, and now that we live in a world where so much information is available at our fingertips, the possibility of finding unknown treasure is more appealing than ever.

Now, millionaire Forest Fenn’s hunt in the Rocky Mountains has claimed its fourth life.

The treasure was buried in 2010 and is reportedly worth around $2 million. It is hidden in a bronze Romanesque chest like the one pictured below, and, just like the treasure prized by pirates, consists of old coins, gold nuggets, and gems.

Creating a treasure hunt was an idea which had been brewing in Fenn’s mind for a number of years before he actually buried the chest. He wanted to bring a little adventure into the modern world and encourage people to stop and think.

“People today are too busy to think,” Fenn said. “There is so much going on in the world, and they are distracted. My advice would be to set aside an hour each day to just think. Don’t rule out any idea.”

The video below is a report on the chest’s latest victim:

Fenn finally decided to start the treasure hunt during the Great Recession because he “wanted to give people some hope and something to believe in”, Business Insider reported. “There seemed to be despair everywhere,” he said.
