16 Feb Teenager Left Unconscious After Jaw Is “Shattered” By Kangaroo During Hunt
If you’ve ever wanted to visit Australia – and, let’s face it, many of us have – what might curb your enthusiasm slightly is the prospect of coming into contact with some of the country’s many sinister and sometimes deadly creatures.
I’m not just talking about spiders and snakes here, I am also talking about the most quintessentially Australian animal, the kangaroo. Kangaroo attacks on humans may be rare but that they do happen on occasion.
And that’s something a 19-year-old man by the name of Joshua Hayden knows all too well.
He was knocked unconscious following a kangaroo attack. The young man’s jaw was broken after a vicious altercation with a kangaroo that he had sought out while hunting for meat in the Wheatbelt, a region of Western Australia.
Hayden was out hunting with his brother in a paddock near Kellerberrin, 202km east of Perth. The incident happened on Tuesday night when the brothers set their sights on three kangaroos.
Hayden said that one of the kangaroos initially disappeared from view, but when he stuck part of his body out of the window so that he could shoot the remaining kangaroos, it suddenly appeared and jumped towards the moving car.
