We all have insecurities – some revolve around our physical appearance and others tend to revolve around how we come across to other people. However, when we put them into perspective, we realize that these insecurities really aren’t as deep as we make them out to be.

Put simply, there will always be someone out there who has it much, much worse than you.

Imagine, for example, you had a relatively rare condition whereby you were forced to quite literally carry something in your day-to-day life, in order to control the most awful symptoms of this disease.

Well, that’s the case for a young woman by the name of Bethany Purnell. Her failing health had meant that she had to be fitted with an ileostomy bag, something which she initially found extremely difficult to deal with.

However, recently, the daring 20-year-old had the bright idea of posting very revealing bikini photos of herself. Now I don’t mean revealing in the typical sense of the word. They were revealing because they exposed something about her that she used to be very insecure about – the fact that she had an ileostomy bag strapped to her stomach.

The young woman from Carmarthenshire, Wales went viral after uploading these photos of herself. In doing so, she was able to show millions of people around the world the impact that her debilitating illness has on her and others like her.
