It’s hard to believe that one year has passed since Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States. His inauguration on January 20, 2017 was an event which captivated the world – for all the wrong reasons.

Despite many gaffs on the day, there was one stand out moment which, one year later, people are still fascinated by: What was Melania Trump’s gift to Michelle Obama?

We all watched as the nervous first lady-to-be stumbled up the steps towards the White House without the aid of her husband who had bowled on ahead. As she followed sheepishly behind in a stunning power blue Ralph Lauren coat dress, Melania approached her predecessor-to-be brandishing a large Tiffany &. Co gift box.

She offered the box to Michelle who accepted it graciously, if not a little awkwardly. There was a brief moment where the cameras caught Michelle floundering with the generous gift, before her husband intervenes.

Ever since that moment, there has been mass speculation as to what the mysterious Tiffany’s gift box contained. Some comically suggested it could have held a plea note from the Slovenian-born first lady, begging for the Obama’s to save her from the situation she’d unwillingly found herself in.
