In the age of widespread social media usage, we are constantly looking to make each and every day as photographic as possible. We are desperate to impress people by proving that our every waking moment is aesthetically pleasing enough to share on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

We kid ourselves into believing that if our lives appear perfect in photographs then they must actually be perfect in reality. 

So what’s the lastest Insta-worthy trend making waves on the internet? “Promposals”. Yep, today’s generation of high school kids are making promposals so that they can ask someone to the prom. 

However, they’re not as sweet and harmless as they may seem and no one knows that better than former high school senior, Carly Walling.

Now Carly happened to be dating a fellow student, Dylan Buckley, and, like the loving boyfriend he was, he arranged the most adorable promposal so that he could ask his sweetheart to the prom.

While Dylan was probably hoping it would turn out a little like the promposal featured below, it actually turned into a complete disaster.

Despite knowing full well that the answer would be yes, Dylan went to great lengths to pose the question in the most memorable way. In hindsight, he probably wishes he had done it the more traditional way.

Ultimately, he ended up being overzealous and overlooking some crucial details… a mistake which landed Carly in hospital.

What Dylan didn’t realize was that this supposedly romantic promposal would end up nearly killing Carly.
