A terrifying example of this was caught on camera in China after an unassuming woman lost her leg in a horrific incident involving a mobile phone and a faulty elevator.

The woman, who remains anonymous, can be seen approaching the lift with a companion, but before either of them can enter the elevator, the door suddenly closes.

The woman in front, who had her mobile phone in hand at the time of the incident, is then caught halfway in the lift where her leg becomes wedged in the malfunctioning doors.

Before the woman has time to free her leg, the lift quickly ascends three floors, causing her dangling leg to be sliced off in the process.

The incident reportedly happened on June 21, 2017, at the Conch Building in Shanghai. However, this is the first time that the shocking footage has been released.
