19 Dec 20 Of The Biggest ‘Star Wars’ Actors Before They Were Famous
The Star Wars franchise consists of some of the most successful movies in cinematic history, and we were first introduced to the adventures of its cast in 1977. The sequel trilogy is the latest series to hit our screens, beginning with The Force Awakens in 2015.
Over the years, Star Wars has made the careers of countless actors who have gone on to become some of Hollywood’s biggest names including Carrie Fisher and Ewan McGregor, and the latest series is shaping up to do the same thing for stars like Daisy Ridley.
To celebrate the release of the The Last Jedi, we’ve compiled a list of photographs of the franchise’s stars before they were famous. So let’s go further than “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away” and see what they looked like before they made it big…
1. Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia)
The world was heartbroken when we had to say goodbye to Carrie Fisher in December 2016. She was as beautiful as she was talented. This photograph of her pre-fame might be decades old now, but it looks like it was taken just yesterday.
2. Daisy Ridley (Rey)
Twenty-five-year-old Daisy Ridley is the latest actor to make her name in the Star Wars franchise. Speaking about his decision to hire Ridley, director J.J. Abrams said, “What we were looking for was someone new, ” he said. “This character needed to be vulnerable and tough, sweet and terrified. And to find someone that no one knew who could do all these things took a lot of looking.”
“[Daisy Ridley] just blew my mind. She’s reaching this depth of struggle, and tears are streaming down her face. I thought, ‘This is unbelievable.’”
3. John Boyega (Finn)
Another actor who has recently made a name for himself in the Star Wars franchise is 25-year-old John Boyega. However, he did get a real taste of fame, albeit not on the same scale, when he played Moses in the 2011 sci-fi comedy movie Attack the Block.
4. Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi)
The Scottish actor made his debut in the Star Wars series back in 1999 as Obi-Wan Kenobi. He most recently made a cameo in The Force Awakens in 2015, however, there are rumors circulating that he could be starring in a spin-off movie entirely about his character.
When asked about the possibility of a solo movie in 2015, McGregor said, “I’ll say it publicly. I’d be happy to do the story between Episode III, that I finished in, and Episode IV that Alec Guinness started in. I think that would be good. Disney should definitely do that.”
