11 Dec Mom Who Couldn’t Sit Down For 10 Years Because Of Giant Abscess Gets Inspiring Tattoo To Cover Scar
Pain is something we all have to endure from time to time. From deeply unpleasant and grueling migraines to agonizing discomfort during childbirth, it’s an inevitable part of life – even if it’s as simple as stubbing your toe!
However, some people are unfortunate enough to experience relentless and excruciating pain. Thirty-six-year-old Nicola Fletcher was one of these people, and what she experienced as a result of her rare condition is extremely distressing.
For a staggering 10 years, Fletcher wasn’t even able to sit down because of a large and highly sensitive abscesses on her bottom. The mother-of-six from Blackpool, England, started developing the painful pus-filled abscesses when she was only 19 years old.
This came about as a symptom of Crohn’s disease – a condition which leads to inflammation of the bowels and the entire digestive system.
Although the abscesses began showing up on Fletcher’s body when she was a teenager, she actually started experiencing the first few symptoms when she was only 10 years old.
At that age, Fletcher became aware that she needed to use the restroom far more than usual, and she noticed that she was rapidly losing weight.
Fletcher recalls feeling a deep sense of embarrassment about the symptoms which she was experiencing. Eventually, she did gather up the courage to inform her mother and father, Janet and Robert Fletcher and she was taken to a doctor’s appointment.
