There is nothing that can compare to the innocence of a child. Naive to social conformity, the divided class system, and discrimination in all its forms, they are truly pure in their view of the world.

But that doesn’t make it any less surprising when a child says something truly untainted by bigotry. Something which this young girl demonstrated perfectly when she went to buy a new toy with her mom.

Brandi and Nick Benner, from South Carolina, promised their three-year-old daughter, Sophia, that if she could “poop on the potty” for a month, they would reward her with a toy of her choice. Enticed by the incentive, Sophia achieved her set target.

As promised, her mother took her to Target to pick out the toy that she had been patiently waiting a whole month to be united with. However, once at the store, Sophia was presented with a challenge.

Despite having the entire contents of Target’s toy section at her disposal, Sophia picked a new doll. “The obsession is real,” her mother explained, revealing that Sophia absolutely loved to play with dolls.

Staring at the towering shelves, Sophia was met with a mirror image of herself: white dolls with golden hair. The shelves were saturated with white dolls in pretty party gowns to tempt Sophia. However, these were of no interest to the three-year-old.

Sophia fell in love with a different doll, which she proudly carried to the checkout. However, once there the cashier looked at her with questioning eyes and began to make some strange inquiries.
