You Never Knew These Horrific Ingredients Were In Your Favorite Foods

We have all put some questionable things inside our bodies, some with regret and some with satisfaction. The majority of the time we prefer to be oblivious to what we put in our mouths, after all, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right?

However, there is being oblivious and then there is being clueless. Unbeknown to us, there is a plethora of horrifying ingredients hiding inside foods that we consume on a daily basis.

Be warned, once you know what lurks within your favorite snacks you will never look at them the same way again. If you need an excuse to stop eating McDonald’s, chocolate and chewing gum, then this revelation may help you…

1. Hair

A majority of people on this planet will have found a hair in their food at some point and been mildly disgusted. However, these people are clearly oblivious to the fact that they’re consuming products made with human hair on a daily basis. L-Cysteine is an amino acid used to soften dough in mass produced baked goods. Disturbingly, it is made from duck feathers and HUMAN hair.

It is estimated that 80% of L-Cysteine is made of human hair, however McDonald’s uses the duck feather variety in their Baked Hot Apple Pie and Warm Cinnamon Roll, which is quackers!

2. Antifreeze

Most houses in this world possess a bottle of antifreeze. However, it is kept out of reach in the garage for use on the car and NOT in the kitchen cupboard.

However, in many cake manufacturers antifreeze can be found mixed in amongst with other, more conventional, ingredients. Why? The potent substance stops fat from clumping together, just like it stops the water from forming a mini iceberg in your car.

If you want to avoid consuming it, then you’ll need to banish ice-cream, soft drinks, many frozen desserts, cake icing and artificial sweeteners.

3. Saw Dust

Do you love cheese? (of course you do). Do you love sawdust? As apparently in the food industry there is a very fine line between the two. Cellulose, or virgin wood pulp (a fancy way of saying sawdust) is a common ingredient found in shredded cheese.

However, it is not just shredded cheese that is mixed with the stuff as it is also used by Kellogg’s to make their famous Eggos and Cinnabon pancakes. It can also be found in several products from Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Kraft, Jack In The Box, KFC and McDonald’s.
