Jennifer Lawrence is a poster girl for women everywhere. Often referred to as “America’s Sweetheart”, the 27-year-old actress has been vocal in her disregard for Hollywood’s beauty standards.

A self-confessed food addict, J-Law isn’t shy about her weight, which often grabs headlines in Hollywood. “In Hollywood, I’m obese. I’m considered a fat actress,” she told ELLE in 2012, when he career was just starting to snowball. “I eat like a caveman. I’ll be the only actress that doesn’t have anorexia rumors! I’m never going to starve myself for a part.”

However, her determination to “eat like a caveman” has caused difficult moments in her career. Something that the Oscar-winning actress opened up about when giving a speech at ELLE‘s Women In Hollywood Celebration.

When Lawrence was a fledgling actress, she was met with criticism from casting agents and producers who required her to lose weight for roles. However, there was one particular occasion that left The Hunger Games actress particularly “humiliated”.

In her speech, Lawrence recalled a time when she was just started out as an actress and was asked by a female producer to lose 15 pounds in two weeks.

“When I was much younger and starting out, I was told by producers of a film to lose 15 pounds in two weeks. During this time a female producer had me do a nude line-up with about five women who were much, much, thinner than me. We are stood side-by-side with only tape on covering our privates.”

“After that degrading and humiliating line-up, the female producer told me I should use the naked photos of myself as inspiration for my diet.”
