Smith, from Hull in England, has Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), a rare condition which makes it difficult for people to regulate their emotions. Approximately 1.6% of the population of the US suffer with the disorder, which causes mood swings, impulsively, conflicted personal relationships and low self-esteem.
