16 Of The Most Powerful Images From NFL’s Trump Protest On Sunday

NFL players started an unprecedented protest on Sunday at Wembley Stadium in London in response to Donald Trump and his comments on the national anthem protests. He maintained that the protests “nothing to do with race” and that players who took part in them should be suspended or even fired.

The protests in question involved NFL players kneeling in protest during the national anthem. The protests were borne out of the unjust police violence against black people, and the president sparked even more fury with his comments.

On Sunday, many NFL players not only knelt during the national anthem, but a number of them (from both teams) linked arms in solidarity with one another. While this was going on, the hashtag #TakeAKnee was trending on Twitter.

Here are the most powerful and moving photos from the protest on Sunday:

1. Jacksonville owner Shad Khan is in fact a Trump donor

However, even he joined in the protest by linking arms with his employees.

2. Many players on the Ravens and the Jaguars took part in the protest

Even those players who didn’t kneel, linked arms in solidarity.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers coach, Mike Tomlin was very much in support of the protest

In fact, he said that he was looking for “100 per cent participation” from his players.

4. Alejandro Villanueva, was once an Army Ranger who served in Afghanistan

He was the only Steelers player to stand for the anthem. The other players stayed in the locker room in protest.

The very first protest of this kind started in 2016 when NFL player Colin Kaepernick sat down during the national anthem.
