It has been reported that a gunman opened fire in a hospital in the borough of the Bronx, New York.

It is thought that the incident took place at roughly 14:45 local time, while the man, who was dressed as a doctor, is believed to now be dead.

The New York Police Department have urged members of the public to avoid the surrounding area of the hospital; 1650 Grand Concourse. The New York Times has claimed that three doctors were shot in the incident, but their condition in the aftermath remains unclear.

Emergency medical staff are awaiting entry to the building, reports suggest, as police have not yet declared it as secure.
