Christian Leader Blames Gay People For Hurricane Harvey

Homosexuality is an “abomination” according to the bible. Despite this, countless religions have adopted increasingly liberal stances towards those who don’t identify as heterosexual in recent years. In fact, there are many churches that still will not allow LGBTQ+ people to marry.

But there are some Christians who stand by what is written in the bible down to the last word (even though it was written by man and not God, and therefore can’t be regarded as a completely reliable source of information). This includes many far-right fundamentalist Christians.

One of these Christians is radio host Rick Wiles, who is pictured above. He is famed for his outspoken stance on topical issues including religions that aren’t Christianity and diseases. So it stood to reason – or, in his case, nonsense – that he was going to speak out about Hurricane Harvey.

As far as Wiles was concerned, Hurricane Harvey, which was proven to be the result of natural weather cycles and the increase in global temperatures, was a sign from God. He’d made the completely logical and in no way homophobic conclusion that it was a punishment for Houston embracing their LGBTQ+ community.
