The tedious task of keeping them happy can sometimes feel like a full time job, but for Silky Gaind, it felt like a prison sentence that she couldn’t escape. Her alarming story, which could come straight from an ancient history book, has shocked the world…

Silky, was allegedly subjected to attacks by her own family, in her own home. The 33-year-old, claims to have been locked in her room, without her cell phone, whilst her husband, Devbir Kalsi, and parents-in-law, Jasbir and Bhupinder Kalsi, who had flown all the way from India to help, crafted a plan to discipline her.

The tension in the household escalated on Friday, when Devbir and Silky had an argument. According to the police report, during the heated exchange, Devbir struck Silky “repeatedly and forcefully”. When Silky attempted to defend herself, Devbir’s parents began to also attack her, leaving bruises on her face, neck and torso.

Silky’s young daughter was also injured during the attack, after being struck in the face, whilst Silky cradled her protectively in her arms.
