06 Sep Model Whose Face Was Burned With Acid On Her 21st Birthday Makes A Stunning Recovery

Resham Khan aspired to be a model before she was viciously attacked with acid on her 21st birthday. The corrosive liquid, which was thrown in her face, melted her skin and left her in excruciating pain. But, it wasn’t only physical pain that plagued Khan. The 21-year-old is also haunted emotionally by her ordeal.

Khan, was with her cousin, Jameel Muhktar in east London on June 21, when they were allegedly doused with corrosive liquid. Instantly, extreme pain began to consume Khan and she started to scream in agony. “My cousin started screaming,” Jameel, who was also injured, recalls: “Her eyes were blistered, her face started melting. My face started melting.”

The pair had been sat in their car at traffic lights, listening to music in celebration of Khan’s 21st birthday, when the liquid was thrown through the open window. Khan recalls how Jameel, who was driving “struggled to get us away” whilst she watched her “clothes burn away ” in front of her.

As they sped away, “the pain took over and we crashed”. Panic stricken, the pair began to remove their clothes in the middle of the road whilst “running around screaming and begging for water”. They did this for 45 minutes, before someone drove a naked Jameel and Khan to the local hospital.

Once at the hospital, the pair were transferred to a specialist unit. Jameel, who was in a serious condition, was placed into a coma. Meanwhile, Khan underwent a skin graft on her face.

Khan, who has admitted on her blog that she has suffered from breakdowns since the attack, which left her too scared to leave the house. Although, she was “thankful” that her face was “mainly intact”.

Despite her extreme trauma, Khan has made a magnificent recovery, which has since left the internet further disbelief…
