An Airbnb host was left stunned when she returned to her Paris apartment to find faeces, urine and garbage decaying across the property. She was met by the horrifying scene after letting her apartment via the app for three weeks, but even more terrifying is how much it will cost her to fix…

Model and dancer, Laurie Synakowski rented her Parisian flat on Airbnb whilst she way away, to help her earn some extra cash. However, the 23-year-old is now left with an extensive bill as a result of her money making scheme backfiring catastrophically.

Her luxurious new flat is now infected with insects after the temporary inhabitant turned it into a “vulgar squat”. Decaying floorboards and stained sheets are only a small part of the problem which Synakowski now faces.

“The urine has taken possession of the charming studio from the floor to the ceiling,” she writes on her Facebook page, explaining how the charming studio flat is “filled with excrement, urine and an impressive quantity of alcohol bottles”.

Synakowski did not meet the Canadian man who destroyed her home, but, her neighbours did describe him as “nice”. Under further investigation, she discovered that the man was “suffering from alcoholism and depression”. But, that wasn’t all she found out…

After thoroughly inspecting her rotting flat, Synakowsi called in contractors to help her take stock of the damage. The building firm she hired estimated that the repairs could cost £13,000, a cost Synakowski hopes Airbnb will cover.

Upon accepting the man, Synakowski had no concerns that he would cause such chaos. “The profile of the individual did not show any suspicion,” she wrote, adding how he even had “a positive comment from a previous host”. This time he wouldn’t be so lucky…
