30 Aug Celebrities Are Pledging Huge Sums Of Money To Victims Of Hurricane Harvey

Hurricane Harvey has left much of southeastern Texas devastated after the Category 4 tropical cyclone tore through homes and highways.

Thousands of people have been left homeless and heartbroken by the natural disaster, which has so far claimed an estimated 30 lives. People across the globe are actively trying to assist the victims of Hurricane Harvey with donations to help them rebuild their lives, and now, some of the world’s most privileged celebrities are digging deep to help the cause.

President Trump has already stated that there has “never been something so expensive in our country’s history”, and has pledged to set up a fund for the victims of President Harvey – promising that he things will be back “up and running very, very quickly”.

However, every penny helps, and the people who certainly have a penny to spare are celebrities. Just like everyone else around the globe, many celebrities have been personally devastated by Hurricane Harvey’s destruction, and have vowed to donate huge sums of money in an effort to help the victims.

Born and bred in Houston, Texas, Beyoncé is fiercely loyal to her hometown. So, it is no surprise that the singing sensation immediately began to devise a way in which she could help those affected.

In a statement to the Houston Chronicle, the 35-year-old star said her charity BeyGOOD will be working to aid those in need: “I am working closely with my team at BeyGOOD as well as my pastor (Rudy Rasmus at St. John’s in downtown Houston) to implement a plan to help as many as we can,” she said.

Whilst away in London, rap artist Drake promised to aid those in need in Texas with an emotional Instagram post in which he said: “all I can think about is how devastated I am as I look at images of the damage Hurricane Harvey has caused. I am praying for the safety of all those affected”, before adding that he will be “working with local relief groups to aid and assist the people of Texas in anyway we can and in the most immediate way possible.”

Reality television star, Kim Kardashian has stated over Twitter that she and the rest of the Kardashian clan shall be donating $500,000 to the Red Cross and Salvation Army.

But that is just the tip of this ever-growing iceberg of love and generosity, as many celebrities have followed suit and vowed to donate jaw-dropping figures…
