Citizens of Texas, which is currently in a state of emergency, are left questioning whether their loved ones are safe after the cellular signal was damaged by the Category Four hurricane. Aaron Mitchell is one of those people, desperate for news of his father, who he had been unable to contact for several days.

Mitchell, who has been left homeless after the cyclone tore down his house in Aransas Pass, Texas, walked for 12 miles in the dark to reach his father’s house. But, upon arriving there he found his father’s house empty, which is where his living nightmare began.

Mitchell, who has lost everything in the storm after, was faced with the prospect that he may also have lost his father. Luckily, his mother was safely in Oklahoma, but without the cell reception, he hadn’t even been able to inform her that he was safe. An emotional Mitchell spoke to CNN about his turmoil, but during the interview, something miraculous happened.
