29 Aug Guy Wins Most Chilling Cosplay Ever With An Incredible Night King Transformation

Over the years, countless iconic villains have appeared in TV and movies. Whether you grew up in the late 90s and were terrified of Ghostface giving you a call, or couldn’t sleep at night in the 80s because of Freddy Krueger haunting your dreams. But these days there’s one icy villain who’s sent more than a shiver down people’s spines – the Night King.

The Night King is the primary antagonist of Game of Thrones. He’s the original White Walker and leader of the army of the dead, who rule beyond The Wall, and, if Daenerys and Jon can’t stop him, he’s likely to become ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. The Night King is the embodiment of the fact that winter is now here.

Since the series launched in 2011, thousands of fans have cosplayed as some of its best-loved characters, but until now no one had created a Night King cosplay as epic as the one worn by Filipino cosplayer Xidge Evangelista this weekend. He’s been cosplaying since 2009, and, as you’re about to see, he’s a real pro.

Characterized by his piercing blue eyes, icy facial features and fearsome armour, the Night King’s appearance is a reflection of how terrifying he is. Of all the characters in the show, there’s no doubt that the Night King would be one of the most difficult to cosplay, but that did not deter Xidge.

Pictured above is the mask Xidge made for his Night King cosplay for the AsiaPOP Comicon 2017 – as you can see, it’s not quite finished in this photograph. In fact, it took a week to make! The final result was so impressive that he won the prize for Best Costume at the convention…
