25 Aug Man Attempts To Record Lightning Storm, Comes Mere Feet Away From Losing His Life
It’s rare to go through life without having a couple of near-death experiences. Whilst the vast majority of us come face-to-face with our own mortality in rather innocuous ways, such as failing to look left and right before walking into incoming traffic, others have crazy tales of chasing tornadoes and getting lost up mountains in sub-par temperatures.
Whilst I would love to recount such tall tales to an excited cluster of my nearest and dearest, I have to admit that I am not the outdoorsy type. I would rather stay cooped up on the sofa on a Saturday night, catching up on my Netflix queue than spend an evening in the wilderness, camping and roasting S’mores.
Others, however, have an insatiable appetite for adrenaline. Even the fastest rollercoaster in the world doesn’t cut it for these veritable junkies, they need to be up close and personal with danger.
Then there is that third category of people that never invite danger into their lives, but continue to find themselves embroiled into it, through no fault of their own. Whether they’re mindlessly crossing the street or elevators, they constantly find themselves subject to technological mishaps, drivers who clearly don’t know the rules of the road and good ol’ bad luck.
The most recent example of this is Daniel Modøl. Armed with nothing but good intentions, Daniel stepped onto the terrace of his home on Gjerstad, Aust-Agder in Norway to film a lightning storm. Whilst this appeared to be a relatively risk-free thing to do, things did not go according to plan as Mr. Modøl quickly found himself in the path of serious destruction…
