Hollywood’s Most Eye-Popping Movie Scenes That Had Us Reaching For The Pause Button…

Have you ever watched a movie and spotted something on-screen and gone “Woah! What was that!” before scrambling around for the remote control, pausing the movie, and rewinding back to that specific spot? Well if you have then you’ll understand how certain scenes become the most paused movie scenes ever. So what are the most paused moments of all time?

From steamy moments that we can’t help but replay to scenes where extras mess up big time, there’s a lot of pause-worthy moments in Hollywood history. Some movies even give us clues as to what will happen later on, or evidence that suggests new movies of the same franchise will be coming out soon. Let’s face it, we all love being the detectives when it comes to our favorite movies.

Do You Know Any Famous Paused Movie Scenes?

I can guarantee that will be a fair few scenes in here that you will be able to relate to so hard that you will probably smile or roll your eyes, knowing that someone – probably even YOU – has paused the tape in that exact moment. The infamous scene with Sharon Stone? Yep, it’s in here. Ever heard about those rumors about the Little Mermaid original? They’re all true. See for yourself…

If you have ever seen the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High, then you’ll know that nearly every single person watching the video paused it during the swimming scene with Linda and Stacy, and we can’t blame them…

1. Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982)

In the story, Stacy’s big brother Brad is looking out for his sister Stacy and her friend Linda whilst the two girls splash around swimming in the pool. Phoebe Cates plays Linda Barrett, and when she climbs up the steps to get out the pool, we see her in a very small red bikini. Then she takes it off. Pause!

If you thought Phoebe Cates’ little strip off at the pool was steamy, then you’ll probably have found this even steamier. The movie Wild Things was never going to do well unless there was something in it viewers really wanted to see. Like two hot girls kissing…

2. Wild Things (1998)

It was as if a teenager dreamt this one up. Neve Campbell and Denise Richards absolutely destroyed any X-rating that Fast Times had by both making out with each other in the pool and then removing their bikini tops. It was the lesbian scene that everyone wanted to see and was probably the main reason why Wild Things ever was a success.

The moment where Sharon Stone crosses her legs over one another in the movie Basic Instinct had every single human being lurching for their remote control.

3. Basic Instinct (1992)

Sharon Stone was fully dressed, or so it appeared, in the scene, but then, when she did the classic leg crossover, the entire audience got a whole lot more than they expected. From that moment onwards, Basic Instinct became the movie everyone wanted to see, or perhaps Sharon Stone’s lack of underwear was the thing that everyone wanted to see.

If you have ever seen the movie Scanners, then you will remember that the movie was both written and directed by David Cronenberg, and it was the first movie he did that really began his career.

4. Scanners (1981)

The whole entire movie revolves around psychic powers, giving it an edge of being a more science -fiction horror surrounding a mystery then an action movie. In one particular scene, Michael Ironside somehow explodes a man’s head by using psychic powers.  The thing is, it happened so fast and was so gory, we had to pause it, rewind it, and see it one more time.

NEXT: Look closely, can you see this dark figure in the background?
