I’d be willing to bet that most of you have deigned to dreamed about having superhero-esque qualities.
Perhaps you meditate on the heady fiction of being able to fly, crush the opposition with your other worldly super strength, or else confound and confuse all with your hitherto unprecedented ability to read minds.
Of course, many of these ideas are informed by the silver screen of Hollywood. Superhero movies have enjoyed something of a cultural renaissance in recent years and opinions are as impassioned as they are diverse on the preferred conduit to heroism. Personally, I’ve always coveted Batman’s lifestyle; not only is he more than capable of fighting crime and saving the world, but he is also astonishingly rich and something of a Lothario. Not a bad life, all things considered.
In reality, though, our fictionalised concept of the superhero does not exist, at least not in the same form as our Hollywood informed imaginings. Of course, acts of superhuman skill and compassion happen every day as world records are shattered, acts of kindness are selflessly performed and dizzying new inventions are synthesised.
One man in India, though, claims to have an entirely other-worldly gift.
