09 Aug BREAKING: Paris Police Hunt For Car That Deliberately Crashed Into Six Soldiers
In what local mayor Patrik Balkany says he has “no doubt” was a deliberate act, six soldiers have been struck by a car in Paris.
Two of the soldiers in the group are thought to be seriously hurt, while the others have suffered light injuries, according to police authorities.
French police are now undertaking a wide scale search for the driver and vehicle, which is believed to have accelerated away from the scene in the north-west suburb of Levallois-Perret.
Mayor Balkany has reportedly advised that a BMW vehicle, described as dark in colour, drove the wrong way down a one way street before hitting the soldiers;
“The BMW accelerated very quickly the moment they came out. This happened in the middle of the town. It happened very quickly.”
Witnesses have claimed that the driver was alone in the vehicle, while the area has since been sealed off as the search is undertaken.
Security forces in France have faced a number of attacks in recent times, and the country has been in a state of emergency since 2015.
