08 Aug Sinead O’Connor Posts Heartbreaking Video Documenting Her Struggle With Mental Health Issues
Sinead O’Connor rose to fame in the late 80s, but achieved worldwide success after her version of Nothing Compares To You was released in 1990. The song, which was originally written and performed by Prince, explored feelings of longing from the point of view of an abandoned lover, and took the world by storm after its iconic music video was released.
In the years since, O’Connor has released ten solo albums, as well as numerous musical collaborations and appearances at charity fundraising concerts. By the age of 50, she has had four children, and continues to speak out about issues close to her heart, often sparking a controversy for her comments on religion and women’s rights.
In recent years, she has continued to make music – with her latest album being 2014’s I’m Not Bossy, I’m The Boss. But now, in a video she has posted to her Facebook page, she has revealed that her mental health has severely deteriorated, particularly after losing custody of her 13-year-old son.
