The dating scene is very different today than it was even 10 years ago. The effect of social media on how we interact with potential other halves has been monumental, and years of internet dating sites have culminated in quick-to-use dating apps like Tinder bringing people together much more efficiently.

It was through this app that Josh Avsec, 22, and Michelle Arendas, 21, came into contact with each other.

The couple were matched on Tinder all the way back in 2014, but they didn’t meet face to face until July this year. They had been messaging each other on the app now and then, keeping a running joke going about how long it took each of them to reply.

In July Josh uploaded a few screenshots of their conversations to Twitter, and the post went viral. The two students became an internet sensation and people were desperate to see them finally get together after years of chatting. Tinder noticed the tweet and decided to treat the couple to their first date… in any city in the world.
