8 Celebrities Who Could Genuinely Run For POTUS In The Future

No one thought Trump could do it. Perhaps not even Trump himself thought he could do it. But when the former reality TV star became the 45th President Of The United States, he paved the way for others to follow in his footsteps. Is it wise for America to appoint another resident of Tinseltown to the role of POTUS? Probably not. Could it actually happen? That remains to be seen.

Although we haven’t got a crystal ball to gaze into to reveal which politician, reality TV star, Oscar-winner or popstar could be hiring a moving van and heading to the White House in the future, what we can do is show you the celebrities who America believes have a strong chance of running for the most powerful role in the United States, if not the world. Basing our evidence on past polls, here are the famous faces America would be running down to the polling station to vote for.

1. Ellen DeGeneres

Core skill set: Ellen genuinely seems to care about making other’s lives better, has some sick dance moves and would approach all G20 summits with a killer – and much-needed – sense of humour.

Professional experience: Although the talk show host has little genuine political experience, she is said to have done more in influencing people’s opinions on LGBT rights than any other American. She’s also raised awareness for HIV sufferers and campaigned for animal rights. Oh, and she’s good friends with Obama, so we’re sure he could throw a few tips her way when she’s stumped.

What would America look like under her presidency?: The beloved comedian reportedly gave $40,000 to Democrats in 2016 alone, leaving us to easily guess where her political allegiance lies. She has spoken out in the past against Trump’s travel ban, potentially meaning that welcoming refugees would be a big thing for her, as well as making sure persecuted members of society are treated fairly.

Oh, and every American would surely be pencilled in to have a good ‘ol dance session every Friday at 3pm.

Why do you want to be president, Ellen?: Urm, sadly Ellen actually has no interest whatsoever in America’s top job. When she was US’s number one pick for president in a poll, she responded by saying:”Thank you, and not interested. That sounds like the worst job in the world to me.” Oh well…

2. Kayne West

Core skill set: In the past, the Gold Digger star has claimed to be a “living God”. Think about it for a second, could we really get much better than God as president? On the other hand, the God in human form is also rather prone to acting out, with the occasional bizarre Twitter rant and insanely rude interruption when other stars win awards. We’re not so sure Taylor Swift would be crazy about a 2020 West run.

Professional experience: Kayne, who is a big supporter of black rights, has previously met with President Trump to discuss the “multicultural issues” he cares about such as “bullying, supporting teachers, modernising curriculums, and violence in Chicago.” He also spends a lot of time giving bizarre political speeches, more often than not talking about himself in the third person.

What would America look like under his presidency?: The US would find “the truth” under President West’s reign, whatever that means anyway. From his music lyrics, we’re guessing that gun crime, equal rights and the legalisation of drugs are top of his list for reform.

Why do you want to be president, Kayne?: In spite of his, um, interesting monologue while announcing he would run for president onstage at the MTV Music Video Awards in 2015, the rapper has claimed he would like to have the top role so he could make a worthwhile difference in the world, saying: “If there is anything that I can do with my time and my day, to somehow make a difference while I’m alive, I’m going to try to do it.”

It’s also worth noting that if America did vote for Kayne, it would make the most phenomenal series of Keeping Up With The Kardashians yet. All hail First Lady Kim?

3. Tom Hanks

Core skill set: Tom is famous for his films, but also for being the nicest guy in Hollywood, and is always willing to help someone out or take a selfie with a fan. He’s also creative, determined and gets good results, as can be seen in all of your favourite films.

Professional experience: Seemingly one of the most down-to-earth stars out there, America bloody loves Tom Hanks. That’s enough of a qualification to run for president these days, right?

What would America look like under his presidency?: Tom proclaimed in a recent speech that Americans will turn their country into a “thing of beauty”. Judging on his past political record, “beauty” under a Hank’s government appears to be strongly based on same-sex marriage, environmental causes, and alternative fuels.

Why do you want to be president, Tom?: Although the Democrat movie star was jokingly asked to be the Rock’s running mate in 2020, Tom himself isn’t quite sold on the whole idea of becoming vice president, saying: “Just because I’m an actor, I can give a good speech, I agree with that. But the concept of actually voting for someone just because they can do that?” Trust us Tom, we love you enough to vote for you even without a decent speech.

4. Oprah Winfrey

Core skill set: America’s number one agony aunt is everyone’s best friend, but that doesn’t mean she’d be giving into Putin’s every demand. As anyone who has watched her shows will know, Oprah is strong, an excellent problem solver and is willing to put in the hours to truly make America great again.

Professional experience: The Queen of daytime TV’s proudest achievement is opening a boarding school in South Africa for academically gifted girls from impoverished backgrounds. As well as donating millions to various charities and organisations, she also campaigned for Obama in 2008, with many speculating that her support may have clinched him the election.

What would America look like under her presidency?: Oprah’s ability to influence others with her opinions and endorsements has previously been dubbed “The Oprah Effect”. Would we see more of a united America under her reign?

Why do you want to be president, Oprah?: We’ll probably never know if President Winfrey could have been the one to bring together Americans, as she has time and time again insisted that the role is just not for her, saying: “No, that won’t be happening, but I mean, I did used to think, ‘Well gee’, you had to know so much more than I thought you had to know.’”
