04 Aug The 21 Best Travel Photos of 2017 Are Here And They’re Simply Breathtaking

The time has come for the results of the National Geographic 2017 Travel Photographer of the Year contest to be revealed, and this year the entries were truly astonishing. After the judges looked over the 15,000 entries submitted to the competition, their votes have decided who will be taking home the grand prize.

There are three categories in the competition: nature, people and cities. The first, second, and third-prize winners in each category received cash rewards, while the grand prize winner received a 10-day trip for two to the Galápagos Archipelago with National Geographic Expeditions. The recipient of the grand prize this year was Sergio Tapiro Velasco of Mexico for his image of lightning striking an active volcano.
