Those of us who grew up in the Noughties will be well-acquainted with Jessica Simpson.  Famous for appearing on MTV’s reality television show Newlyweds with her former husband Nick Lachey, her musical endeavours and her rather bizarre relationship with her dad – Simpson was a veritable icon of that special time.

Whilst she has more or less faded from the public eye in recent years, one only needs to step into a Macy’s to see that Simpson is doing very well indeed. The department store houses Simpson’s vast retail empire, which includes her namesake line of clothing, accessories and footwear.

And likewise, the star’s love-life has also taken a turn for the better; Simpson is now happily married to the retired American football player, Eric Johnson with whom she has two children, Maxwell Drew Johnson and Ace Knute Johnson. Guess there’s no hope for a Newlyweds season four, then.

However, alongside other Noughties stars such as Hilary Duff, Simpson is always there, lurking at the end of our Instagram feeds and occasionally popping up in celebrity news to provide us with a daily dose of nostalgia.

But Simpson continues to set herself apart in one regard, and that is proving that she is incredibly down-to-earth. Certainly, Simpson took to her Instagram this past weekend to prove that despite being an immaculately groomed celebrity, she also experiences the common female woe of missing spots whilst shaving.
