There’s A Hidden Detail In The Game Of Thrones Opening Credits That You May Have Missed

If you’re anything like me, on July 16 2017, you’ll remember being seated on the couch promptly at 9pm, waiting in a state of frenzied excitement for season seven of Game Of Thrones to commence. As the majestic opening credits began to play, you began to sweat, your eyes popping from their sockets in fevered delirium.

After 393 days of waiting (not that I counted or anything), it was finally here. What would this season bring? Will John’s true parentage be revealed? What would Queen Cersei’s reign over the seven – or, let’s be honest, three at best – kingdoms look like? Had Daenerys actually made it to Westeros?

But it turns out that as you lay back and purred along to the soundtrack, you should have blinked once or twice in order to rouse those glazed-over eyeballs of yours, and sat up to pay attention to the opening credits.

A week after the first episode of season seven, it has quickly become clear that we all may have missed something that could have given us a large clue to as to how exactly George RR Martin would be attentively moving his chess pieces across the board this year.
