27 Jul One Dead And Several Injured In Shocking Ohio State Fair Accident

One person has been killed and another three have been severely injured after a ride malfunctioned at the Ohio State Fair on Wednesday evening. An 18-year-old man was killed when he was slammed to the ground after part of the ride snapped off during its descent, and it is reported that he died immediately.

A further three people are believed to be fighting for their lives, and two more are reported to have been seriously injured but are in a stable condition. The accident took place on the Fire Ball ride shortly before 7:30pm and the injured were rushed to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center as well as the Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center.

The Fire Ball ride combines swinging and spinning in one motion, and throws people back and forth through the air while spinning them round in circles. Sadly, one of those being treated by doctors is a 13-year-old girl.

A video posted online shows the people being thrown from the ride after one of the benches snaps off at the bottom of the swing.
