What kind of person doesn’t adore their grandparents? The lowest of the low that is, unless their grandparents are genuinely reminiscent of a character from a Roald Dahl novel. For the most part, however, having grandparents is nothing other than delightful. I mean, when they’re not showering you in presents (irrespective of whether it’s your birthday), they’re protecting you from the wrath of your parents. And yes, whilst they can irritate us with dozens of near-nonsensical texts and messages, they really do all they can to ensure we’re as happy as can be.

However, as we grow up and fly the nest, it becomes more difficult to stay in touch. Weekly visits become monthly, and before long, we only see them at family events and Christmas. And whilst this is a sad reality, we’re lucky to exist in an age where our grandparents can, to varying levels of success, use social media.
