It’s no well-kept secret that Saudi Arabia has some of the strictest laws in the world for women. Rights that most people would consider fundamental are cruelly snatched from females by the harrowingly conservative country, which prevents women from doing vital tasks – such as driving, opening a bank account and voting – without the permission of a male relative.

Normally footage of a woman walking around in somewhat revealing clothing in the summer heat would warrant little attention from anyone. However, a Snapchat clip of a young lady dressed in a miniskirt and crop top, walking around a historic site in Saudi Arabia nearly came hand-in-hand with grave consequences for one young Saudi Arabian girl who was arrested for wearing “suggestive clothing”. However, fortunately for her, the Saudi police have released her after she insisted that the video was published without her knowledge.
