In every job interview I’ve had in the past, the worst part has always been the preparation. The hours before you arrive to discuss your suitability for your chosen role are horrendous, as every decision you make is blown out of proportion by your nervous energy.

You end up fussing over what you’ll wear, whether it is smart enough, whether it is too smart, what you should say, how you should speak, how to do your hair; the list goes on and on. Fortunately for me, I don’t have any notable additions to my appearance that might give me any trouble, such as piercings or an unconventional hairstyle.

Yet this is something that New Zealander Mark Cropp has had to face over the last year. The 19-year-old went viral recently when he posted a photo of himself on Facebook, asking for employment as his job searching had been severely hampered by a large facial tattoo.
