Shocking Gender Pay Gap Emerges As BBC Reveal The Salaries Of Their Highest Paid Stars

A huge gender pay gap exists amongst the highest earners at the BBC, it has been revealed. For the first time ever, the BBC has published the salaries of those earning over £150,000 a year, and have exposed a massive disparity between the pay that males and females received at the publicly-funded broadcaster.

The figures show that the top four male presenters at the BBC were collectively paid more than four times the amount of their female counterparts, and that the gap between the highest male earner and highest female earner was over £1.5 million. There are only two women in the top 10 highest earners, which further emphasises the disparity between pay.

The big reveal has put huge pressure on the company to close the gender pay gap, something which Director General Tony Hall says they are hoping to achieve by 2020.
