18 Jul Surgeons Discover A Total Of 27 Contact Lenses In Elderly Woman’s Eye 

I’m one of those lucky people who has good eyesight, so I don’t have to wear glasses or contact lenses. The only time I feel the need to chuck on a pair of specs is when I’m reading and I’m either hungover or tired. However, a lot of my friends have poor eyesight and most of them wear contact lenses. Contacts, to me, look like a nightmare. The idea of having to prod your eye every morning in order to see gives me the shivers. Whenever we’re on a night out, friends’ lenses will dry up and start irritating their eyes to the point that they have to take them out.

While most people who use lenses opt for the daily ones and take them out in the evening, one elderly woman forwent the bedtime task of removing them and instead let her contact lenses build up in her eyes. The 67 year-old from Solihull, UK, was found to have 27 contact lenses stuck in her eye, in a case that doctors are saying they hadn’t “ever seen this before”.
