Recent Discovery Finds Remains Of World War Two Soldier In A Tree

The loss of a loved one is a devastating thing to go through, and one that has been faced countless times by the families and friends of soldiers lost to various conflicts. Yet these grieving families often don’t get the simple cathartic gift of being able to bury the fallen soldier in their home country.

One of the many soldiers to be lost and presumed dead in World War II was First Lieutenant William J. Gray Jr. In 1945, shortly before the end of the six-year conflict in 1945, Gray’s plane crashed in Germany. It was believed that he took some enemy fire, and clipped a tree before the aircraft collided with the ground.

Until now, the only remains William J. Gray’s family had to remember him by were the letters he had written home during the war, which amounted to more than 100. Yet a recent investigation into the area of the crash site has made a remarkable discovery: the bones of the soldier, which have now been shipped back to his family in the U.S.
