12 Jul Breaking: First Articles Of Impeachment Filed Against President Trump
A Democratic representative of the United States House of Representatives has launched the first article of impeachment against Republican Leader and US President Donald Trump.
Brad Sherman, who currently represents California’s 30th district within the San Fernando Valley in the County of Los Angeles, has alleged that Trump has committed obstruction of justice by firing former FBI Director James Comey, after the Bureau launched an inquiry into possible Russian collusion in the Trump campaign.
Sherman wrote: “Such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office.”
Sherman’s article requires 18 votes to pass in the Republican-majority house. Texas Democrat Representative Al Green has also subsequently publicly expressed support for Sherman’s impeachment article.
Sherman added, “Mr Trump has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice to the cause of law and justice and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.”
Previously, on January 9, 2017, in an interview on CNN’s Newsroom, Sherman alleged that the Kremlin provided assistance in order for Trump to win the Electoral College.
Sherman then stated, “The fact is that in the campaign Trump said things that would have hurt him just a little bit with American voters, but helped him with the Electoral College votes that are controlled in Moscow. And Moscow returned the favour. The fact that – I would assume they didn’t do a secret meeting or secret found call -doesn’t change that.”
Only time will tell whether this situation will mean the end of Trump’s first term in office.
