11 Jul China’s New Haute Couture Airline Uniforms Are Changing The Game
When you think of the most prominent airlines in the world, your mind will probably turn to the likes of Emirates Airlines, British Airways or American Airlines, but one name that might soon be on everyone’s lips is Hainan Airlines. As the largest civilian-run airline in China, Hainan has its sights set firmly on becoming one of the world’s foremost carriers. In order to get there though, Hainan not only have to talk to talk and walk the walk but also look the part. Luckily, their new uniforms are setting the benchmark when it comes to looking stylish 30,000 feet in the air.
Set to be unveiled at Paris Couture Week earlier this month, Hainan’s new uniform is traditional Chinese dress brought to the 21st century, and brand director Xu Fei thinks the uniforms will be a great way to “let passengers know that China is modern and trendy”. Check out the uniform below, and see if you agree!
1. Designed by Lawrence Xu, a Chinese-born designer, this is Hainan Airlines’
fifth iteration of their employee uniform since their launch in 1993
2. It adds a new twist to the traditional Chinese elements that Hainan is well known for
3. The women’s uniform is based off the Cheongsam, a traditional Chinese dress
4. It’s reminiscent of traditional Chinese art, with drawings of clouds, waves, as well as the Roc, the mythical bird
5. Combined with Western-style draping, it makes for a really modern look
