10 Jul Stormzy Responds To The Lukaku Photo Mixup And He’s Not Happy
After a sluggish start to the summer transfer window, Manchester United sprung into action when they announced the £75 million signing of former Everton forward Romelu Lukaku.
A club that has become synonymous with heavy spending in recent years, after many seasons of relative caution from Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United have spent an astonishing amount of money over the last couple of seasons, leading many to deride them largely due to a string of abject positions in the Premier League come the end of the campaign.
Having startled fans with a relatively plodding start to the transfer market this summer, red devils supporters will surely be delighted with the capture of Lukaku, who will replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic following his decision to depart Manchester.
Naturally, when a brand new signing is announced, there is a clamour of excitement from fans, hungry to hear from the new star player and see them in their club’s colours. Manchester United fans though, have had to wait a little while for Lukaku to be unveiled in the famous red kit, and a case of mistaken identity in a newspaper will have done nothing to arrest their impatience.
The Irish Herald has found itself in the midst of a media storm, after they mistakenly printed a picture of rapper Stormzy replete in a United kit, along with the headline “Lukaku is ready for work”. Unsurprisingly, it wasn’t long before people started to pick up on the error and, as is the way with such things, it spread like wildfire. Even Stormzy himself has had his say on the case of mistaken identity and it would be fair to say he isn’t particularly happy.
