12 Jun Transgender Man Finishes Surgery to Look like His Hero Shayne Ward

How far would you go to look like your hero? It’s a question that most of us who are burdened with an obsession with an idol have pondered at one point or another. If you’ve got a fixation on a celebrity, whether they’re living or dead, historical or contemporary, male or female, a musician, actor, politician or scientist, it’s only natural that your respect and admiration might lead you to try to emulate and imitate them, even if you’re doing so unconsciously.

I myself have picked up a few affectations from the famous people I admire. Sometimes I’ve even bought a particularly natty item of clothing I’ve spotted them wearing in a glossy magazine, and decided to adopt it for myself. I’d be embarrassed to admit it, but I don’t think it’s too weird.

But I would draw the line at completely changing my appearance to look like someone else’s, but some people are a bit more brave than I am. I’ve lost count of the number of ginger men I know who’ve started trying to act like Ed Sheeran; as if they might one day be called upon to become his actual understudy. Lately, we’ve even had a man claim that he’s the male version of Kim Kardashian, and as you can see from the image above, the resemblance is quite striking.

There are some who take their fixation one step further and resort to cosmetic surgery in a bid to mirror their hero even more closely. I’m not sure if ex-X Factor winner would be my first choice of celebrity to impersonate, but this week a transgender man has finally managed to do exactly that, after completing the last of several surgeries to transform himself into the actor/musician.
