It would probably be fair to say that Eminem has one of the most instantly recognisable faces in popular culture. The rapper has been a mainstay of notoriety and fame for nigh on 20 years, never afraid to tackle polarising issues with a candour and an acerbic eye that can at once be astonishingly cruel and devastatingly funny.

Eminem has become a kind of standard bearer for the disenfranchised and disenchanted, as well as music lovers everywhere; and he has never been afraid of a conflict. Throughout his long and storied career, the rapper has taken aim at a plethora of celebrities, not least Mariah Carey, Kim Kardashian and fellow rappers the Insane Clown Posse. It is a fact that those who choose to lock horns with Eminem tend to come off second best, he is a wordsmith unparalleled in our modern culture, capable of astonishing stanzas that delight and devastate in equal measure.

The rapper has not been without his own troubles, though. His battle with drug addiction has been well documented – not least by Eminem himself – which, he believes contributed to a weight gain . That addiction culminated in an overdose in December 2007 and a subsequent extended hiatus from the rap game. Clearly he didn’t look like the same Slim Shady his fans had become so familiar with, and his new look will leave fans similarly unacquainted, though for a rather different reason.
