O.J. Simpson’s Parole Hearing Has Been Set Meaning His Sentence Could Be Ending Soon

He was the sole defendant in the biggest celebrity trial in history, and people always seem to remember the dramatic murder trial he emerged as an innocent man from, rather than the armed robbery trial years after – where he was found guilty and sentenced to 33 years in prison.

Infamous former football player O.J. Simpson has served eight years in Nevada prison, Lovelock Correctional Centre, since being convicted of multiple charges including armed robbery and kidnapping in 2008. The botched robbery and kidnapping attempt came after the disgraced professional athlete robbed memorabilia collectors Alfred Beardsley and Bruce Fromong of nearly 800 items in a Las Vegas hotel room in November 2007, claiming that the property in question was his.

He has since sat in jail for almost a decade, much to the satisfaction of those who still insist he was guilty of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman’s murders in June 1994. But if fate swings his way, OJ Simpson could be a free man in a matter of days after a parole hearing was set for him on Tuesday. CBS News reports that the 69-year-old former football player’s parole hearing has been set for July 20, meaning that the former football star could out of jail as early as October 1.
